I've got a thing for words: for the way they sound, the way they feel in my mouth, the way they look on the page. The way they mean. Poetry is my favorite way to play with words. I hold an MFA from the Bennington Writing Seminars, and my poems have been published in literary journals, on the web, and in a chapbook from Finishing Line Press. Poetry has taught me how to carefully choose and arrange words to make meaning that is precise, concise, and easy on the ear. I apply this skill to everything I write, from sonnets and essays to research reports. As an employee of Herman Miller, I wrote for and edited award-winning Ideas magazine. In my 25 years as a freelance writer, I have written for a variety of West Michigan businesses, non-profits, and agencies. I also teach writing at Grand Rapids Community College and am in the process of launching three exceptional young men (my sons). If you would like to see other samples of my writing, please email me. |
